House of Sport Science Fest

 

Bring the whole family for an evening of hands‑on discovery at the House of Sport Science Fest, an interactive STEAM open house that explores the fun and fascinating connection between sports, movement, technology, and everyday science. We are excited to partner with COSI for this COSI Science Festival Community Event!

 

Friday, May 1st | 5–8 PM

DICK’S House of Sport (1510 Polaris Parkway, Columbus, OH 43240)

 

Guests of all ages are invited to step into the role of “scientist” as they travel through interactive stations spread throughout the store.

 

Upon arrival, guests will check in at the main entrance, receive a wristband and a themed Science Passport, and then navigate the event at their own pace. Each activity completed earns a stamp—and the more stamps collected, the bigger the rewards. Prizes range from sunglasses and stress balls to free climb passes, with a grand prize entry for a House of Sport birthday party for anyone who completes all stations.

 

We are proud to partner with the following organizations for our science stations: StretchLab Powell, KidStrong Polaris, Grace Haven Ohio, Makerspace Central, and more!

 

Everyday Science

  • Guests explore simple science concepts through cornhole throwing experiments, interactive RFID footwear technology, and easy‑to‑understand sports nutrition activities that show how daily science connects to athletic life.

 

Sport Science

  • Families test real sports equipment—from golf simulators to HitTrax swings to the rock wall—seeing firsthand how physics, engineering, and movement shape performance.

 

Body Science & Performance

  • Participants dive into how the body moves and recovers through recovery tool demos, turf‑combine speed challenges, and hands‑on bike mechanics experiences.

 

This open‑house format encourages curiosity, experimentation, and play—all while showing how science comes alive through the world of sport.
