As a Retail Store Assistant Manager, you are responsible for assisting the Store Manager with leading a team of Second Assistant Managers and Sales Associates to achieve sales, organization, guest engagement, and profitability goals within a Yankee Candle store.



Areas of Responsibility

The Retail Store Assistant Manager is responsible for: assisting with maintaining service and operational standards; assisting with the supervision, coaching, and training of staff; assisting the Store Manager in ensuring adequate staffing through consistent recruiting and networking efforts; ensuring visual merchandising/presentation and operational standards; providing superior guest service and engagement; acting as manager on duty for various shifts, providing direction to team members on daily task focuses and providing exceptional guest service; opening and closing the store on a regular basis; maintaining store facilities; ensuring safety and security for guests and staff; assisting with effectively managing the store inventory (control and processing); preparing cash reports and merchandise order as needed; and other similar duties pertaining to the management of a retail store.  

Education / Experience Requirements

-High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

-2 years demonstrated supervisory/management experience in a retail sales environment or similar fast paced, customer service environment, preferred.

-Previous experience in a retail sales environment with increasing levels of responsibility and strong working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures, preferred.

-Demonstrated ability to effectively lead/direct, coach and train other in a retail setting, and the ability to relate well using communication, interpersonal, diplomacy and related skills required.
