A Selling Department Manger develops a department's sales growth by monitoring and improving the department's level of customer service and visual presentation. 

Areas of Responsibility

Primary job responsibilities of a Selling Department Manager include the following:

  • Assist sales associates in providing excellent customer service; setting an example for others to follow.
  • Train sales associates in sales technique, product knowledge, and department and store policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with sales associates, store management, and the merchandising staff.
  • Complete department schedules and monitor department staffing levels, making changes when needed.
